About Me

I’m Gemma Cockrell, a Senior PR Account Executive at Tank, based in Nottingham, UK.

I hold a First-Class BA in Psychology from the University of Nottingham, and a Distinction in MA Magazine Journalism from Nottingham Trent University. I also achieved the NCTJ Level 5 Diploma in Journalism with Gold Standard accreditation.

Alongside my PR career, I’m a freelance journalist with bylines in publications including LeftLion, DIY, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, God Is In The TV, When The Horn Blows, Gigwise, Voice Online, The Rodeo, Clunk, 5-9, and more. I’m also the co-founder and music editor of The Notts Review.

Outside of writing, I host the motorsport podcast Down To The Tyre, available on YouTube, Spotify, and all major platforms — you can also find it on Instagram @downtothetyre.

Previously, I’ve worked as Assistant Editor and Music Editor at LeftLion, Music Editor at Impact Magazine, Features Editor at The Mic, and Copyeditor at Feeder Series.
